I presented trends as I observe them in the localization industry for a group of translators and linguistic service providers. My goal was to put the people to think about the current developments and how they could turn those developments in an opportunity rather than seeing it as a thread. To achieve that I made provocative statements. For example, the statement that computers could produce better machine translations than human beings in 20 years from now clearly took people out of their their comfort zone. Another provocative question was why we would need linguistic service providers if companies could implement translations management systems and do the selection of translators by themselves. It all resulted in an interactive discussion.
