RIGI

RIGI is the solution to localize web-based applications in-context in a WYSIWYG environment.

A web-based application is hosted on an internet server (e.g. Microsoft IIS, Apache). It can be developed in various technologies, such as ASP.Net, JSP, PHP, Microsoft Silverlight, and Joomla.

A user can access the web-based application via a browser. On a request, the web-based application performs an action and generates dynamically an HTML-page. Thereby, the application may retrieve the content from various sources, including web-services and database queries.

Web-based applications externalize the strings for the various languages in resource files (or databases). Each string has a unique identifier. Commonly used resources are resx-files (Microsoft technology), .properties (Java), XML, Content Management Systems (CMS), Databases, etc.

The translator gets the following interactive environment:

The preview contains the live web-application. The translator is able to navigate and translate the strings on-the-fly.

The filtered list under the preview contains the strings that are used in the current preview.
